Potosi, formerly known as the Imperial City of Potosí is a city in southern Bolivia, extending to the foot of a mountain called Sumaj Orcko legendary (in Quechua: "Cerro Rico") containing the largest silver mine of world.
The city of Potosi from 1545 begins to develop due to the mining of Cerro Rico, since the year 1608 Potosi and had thirty-six churches lavishly ornamented, as many gambling houses and fourteen dance schools. There were dance halls, theaters and boardwalks for the holidays that looked delicious carpets, curtains, coats of arms and works of jewelry. From the balconies of the houses hung colored damasks and gold and silver blades.
